I saw Kerry yesterday on the way to Vegas - he was in one of the buses
heading in the other direction on I-15. We waved and flashed peace signs
but I doubt anyone saw us. At least my truck made it intact this time. Al
Gore had cost (my insurance) $18,000 when an idiot rear-ended me having not
noticed that the Santa Monica freeway had come to a halt because of all the
commotion on the other side. On the way to Vegas, people barely slowed
down.

It's going to be a great victory.

From the Associated Press, 8/12/04:

Kerry Opens Leads in Several Key States

The Kerry campaign has plenty of positive numbers to cite, including:

_ A Quinnipiac University poll showing Kerry and his running mate, John
Edwards (news - web sites), with a slight lead in Florida over Bush and Vice
President Dick Cheney (news - web sites).

_ An Epic-MRA survey suggesting that Michigan is tilting slightly toward the
Democratic ticket.

_ An American Research Group survey showing Kerry-Edwards with small lead in
New Hampshire.

Those three states, with a combined 48 electoral votes, were evenly split
between Kerry and Bush before last month's Democratic National Convention in
Boston.

In addition, Pennsylvania and Oregon - a combined 28 electoral votes - were
evenly split in July, and now the states appear to tilt toward Kerry,
according to private polling and interviews with strategists in both
parties.

I love it.

Saw a great bumpersticker on the back of a speeding PT Cruiser on the way
back from Vegas today. It said "Re-Defeat Bush".

Sirens, gunshots in the middle of the night, response times, etc.

Gee, why is he wasting precious time and $$ in CA? Isn't that state
already all "locked up" in his column?

Yes, of course it is.

Arrogance, presumptuousness, and ignorance of history are common
ingredients for defeat.

I'm well aware of how "emotional" you left wing extremists are with
your cherished fantasies.

However, if (when?) the reality of another unexpected and
disheartening election day loss sets in, try not to be too much of a
whimpering crybaby, like the last time.

Well, I guess the bumper sticker ad didn't work. Bush was not re-defeated and so, he's now the president. I think in order for a government to work, it would take the participation of the people under its governance even though they hate to the guts their leader.
