Default Any diving off daydream island

I'm going to Daydream Island for the big family thing and was wondering is
there is any diving off the actual island ( none of the people I speak to at
the resort can tell or help me ) or do you have to go out to the reef.
Couldn't be bothered to get the boat out to the reef so if not I will enjoy
myself snorkel sucking with my kids and not bother taking BCD etc etc

thanks in advance
