Default Advice on good place to train up to instructor level

Hi,

I'm a PADI AOWD, and want to spend a few months diving, getting up to
instructor level. Does anyone have advice on a good place to do this? I
want somewhere with relatively cheap living expenses, but a good (safe!)
PADI school, and preferably in tropical waters.
Malaysia was recommended to me, and I've found a school that SEEMS good
(http://www.gopro-malaysia.com/index.html) - anyone learnt in Malaysia?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Beth

As a PADI instructor, I have to ask why you would want to become one.
The pay is shit, staying one is expensive (especially if you are a US
resident) and you just don't get any respect.

Why is it expensive to stay an instructor? What does the insurance cost?

Hi Beth,
We offer all levels of training up to Instructor and above, in a great place
called Koh Tao, on the east coast of Thailand. It's a very populare place
for IDC's as we combine very good life, top dive sites, cheap accomodation,
and high level of training.
Our facilty is rated PADI 5* IDC Career Developpement Center, wich is the
highest level of PADI dive shop, and actually we are the only one in the
aerea.....

Please feel free to contact me for any further information about the courses
themselves, the transport, accomodation, and more !

Sincerely,

Probably not for about a year or so. I was on Koh Tao a couple of years
ago. I stopped by your op to set up some dives my first day, but you were
fully booked so I went with another op. I was reasonably satisfied. A
friend of mine was getting his IDC at Buddha View at the same time.

I became acquainted with some of your staff over the course of my stay.

Insurance sucks. It used to be close to $700 a year (was $300
something before 9/11). Now it's down to high 5's.

Add in PADI membership and you're still talking a chunk of change
before you even start updateing the manual.
