Default ADVICE PLEASE....

At the moment i access this NG via a package that i have used for years,
it is a OLR (off line reader) the program itself is very good, and the
service is provided in conjunction with the program suppliers (well it was
when i first started but there have been changes to the service provider).

Access to NG's is provided foc or within the subscription, if i were to
stop using my current provider and use the "net" to access
rec.scuba....how does one do that ?

How do "you" do it........

Personally, I use Outlook Express via my highspeed DSL connection. At least
partly because it handles both my e-mail and newsgroup needs, I like it
better than other options I've tried.

When I'm on the road, particularly if I'm using my work computer, I don't
have that option. Then I access the groups through my subscription to
Google Groups. If you go to http://groups.google.com/, you'll find you are
able to search groups or, if you prefer, join the free service. Joining
allows you to easier access to the groups you are interested in.

Hi Dave,

I expect most people have Usenet access through their ISP, although
many ISPs are starting to drop this service. I've been using an
independant Usenet service provider, Supernews, for about three years
and I'm pretty happy with them. They have a text only service for
$4.95/month that is pretty cheap and very reliable (
http://supernews.com/indi_price.html ). Google is another alternative
that's free.
