| Just about to buy a wetsuit, looking at full 7mm for Victoria ( Port Philip ) waters mainly. It has since occured to me to consider the option of a 5mm full suit, with an added vest (probably hooded). I think the last wetsuit I hired on my OW course was actually a 7/5 anyway ( Pinnacle "Cruiser"), so just wanting opinions of the pros and cons of each.. Also, what's the go with wearing a hooded vest...under or over..does one provide better insulation..? And if I'm a size medium wetsuit, and choose to wear a vest over the top...do I get a size large vest...or will it stretch enough ?? losts of questions I know...but I'll likely be purchasing online ( due to high local retail ), so need to look at all options first.... bc |

| If you liked the Pinnacle/Paragon suits, try Aquatic Adventures in Rye I got quite a deal on the 'Arctic' model about 6 months ago, to replace my aging rubber... You might want to check at Aquability in Mentone -- they have some "high stretch" suits that are more comfortable than some more conventional suits. OTOH, my original suit was a Sonar "Black thunder" two piece Farmer John. 5mm, but effectively 10mm on the torso. I put a 5mm hooded vest under it and was reasonably comfortable in 9 deg water. The Sonars are still around and reasonably priced since they aren't the latest style. Of course, I've gone soft and dive in a drysuit in the cold these days. -Don > > > cheers, > Hi-Soft > "Anonymous Loser" <nospam@me.thanks> wrote in message > news:ft0ssp$h68$1@aioe.org... >> If you liked the Pinnacle/Paragon suits, try Aquatic Adventures in >> Rye I got quite a deal on the 'Arctic' model about 6 months ago, to >> replace my aging rubber... >> >> Mick G >> >> >> >> >> >> "Hi-Soft" <nospam@spam.com> wrote in message >> news:S0RIj.5282$n8.3590@news-server.bigpond.net.au... >>> Just about to buy a wetsuit, looking at full 7mm for Victoria ( >>> Port Philip ) waters mainly. >>> >>> It has since occured to me to consider the option of a 5mm full >>> suit, with >>> an added vest (probably hooded). >>> >>> I think the last wetsuit I hired on my OW course was actually a >>> 7/5 anyway >>> ( Pinnacle "Cruiser"), so just wanting opinions of the pros and >>> cons of each.. >>> >>> Also, what's the go with wearing a hooded vest...under or >>> over..does one provide better insulation..? >>> >>> And if I'm a size medium wetsuit, and choose to wear a vest over >>> the top...do I get a size large vest...or will it stretch enough >>> ?? >>> >>> losts of questions I know...but I'll likely be purchasing online ( >>> due to high local retail ), so need to look at all options >>> first.... >>> >>> bc >>> >>> >> >> |
