I have a Mares M1 and am completly happy with it. But there again I am not a
roughy toughy diver these days being a little older than I was! ))

Just coming up to my 50th dive with it so there will be a battery change
while I am around Dahab next week. No problem as I will not have to send it
to the engineers to get it fixed! There is also the mix gas use if you take
up nitrox I believe.

Looking forward to diving the Canyon. Dahab again. I was there in 1990. We
slept in the desert and got out of our bashers and straight into the water.
Expect things will have changed!

Eddie

Eddie,

Just got back from two weeks in Dahab, and although it was my first
trip there I have to say it was amazing.

Difficult to say how much it has changed (from looking at old
pictures, I'd say quite different) but the place is very laid back and
friendly.

I also did the canyon at sunrise(awe-inspiring) and we were the only
ones there.

Enjoy

I'm off to Dahab for my second time next month- it's a great place. I can
recommend Divers Down Under at the Seven Heaven hotel- I'm taking some of
the club there and they've been great with helping sort things out.

Canyon is a great dive- make sure you get into the "fish bowl" at around
30m, it's swarming with hundreds of fish. Another good one near to that is
Blue Hole- go head first down a chimney in the rocks, exiting at 26m then
follow the coral wall at 30m although the wall itself drops away to a few
hundred metres if that's your thing. The hole itself is a huge gap in the
coral wall- makes for interesting(!) safety stops as there is nothing to
orientate yourself on- just the deep blue everywhere!

As to it changing- the seafront promenade and hotels are now all permanant
and the only thing they really worry about washing away is the bridge (might
be finished soon?). "Friends cafe" lives up to it's name.

One other good place I found to eat was the Three Fishes, it's further
along the bay, past the Nesima hotel. Really good food.

Very jealous of you Peter, have fun

I'll make sure I check out the Three Fishes- we ended up eating in some of
the local cafes last time as we got fed up of pizza everywhere so I always
appreciate hearing about a good place to eat.
I'll let you know how it goes after I get back.

Pete

Just got back last night after a weeks diving with Reef 2000 and a stay at
the Swiss Inn. Everything worked out well. Will send a dit to the group when
I have come down to earth.

Dived - The Bells, Canyon, Coral Garden, Golden Blocks, Glasshouse Pinnacle,
Three Pools and Gabr el Bint!

Get to Dahab before it all goes pear shaped. Hotel building much in
evidence.
