Hi,

If you just want to snorkel, you may try Tangalooma or Tin Can Bay. You can
feed the nature dolpin there.

If you want scuba diving, please contanct Sheryl Morris
<SherylMorris@allwaysdiving.com.au>. They run a dive shop in Brisbane and
have dive trip every week. You can book over the internet.

Thanks for the info.
I found it a bit strange that the Tangalooma
ferry doesn't get there until mid-day though.
If you get back on a late one, you have to get a taxi from the
terminal. )-:
When I went to Rottnest Island, we got there early and had a full
day there. A free bus goes round the island continuously and you
can stop off at a lot of different beaches. I had an evening meal
at a price that was comparable to mainland prices before leaving on
the last ferry back.
The time seemed to go slowly and in retrospect it was like 2 or 3
days worth of fun for the price of the ferry ticket. ($45)

What suit would you use for recreational diving in the Brisbane area?
Is there beach swimming at the beaches adjacent to the city?

TIA

If you do a search, you'll find other operators.

I was out on the island about 4 years ago. Spent most of the day filming
the Quaggas, had lunch at the pub which was good value and spent the
rest of the day wistfully looking at the clear waters not having a
scrap of diving gear with us. Next time we go to Perth, it'll be a
flight north to the Ningaloo reef for a week. That is a must.

Depends on the time of year, but last open water dive/snorkel
out from Bargara (Bundaberg) was comfortable in a 3/2 shortie. Anything
in 5mm would be fine. I prefer the swimming beaches down on the Gold Coast,
esp Coolangatta area.

cheers
