Hi Eddie
It's not all hotels, and the 2 PM check-in is quite late.
I'd email the hotel direct and ask the question of them. A full day seems a
bit rich for a 4 hour early check-in!.
If they are uncooperative you could always just camp in the foyer ......

The Victoria Hotel in Melbourne pulled the same thing on me.
I will arrive at 10am and check in is at 2pm. They said if I
want to be guaranteed to check in at 10am I must pay for the
night before. They said otherwise, the room most likely will
NOT be available before 2pm.

They have a pool and whirlpool, so if the room isn't ready,
I'm going to relax in the whirlpool/pool for that time - or
sleep in a deck chair. Or I guess I could always sack out
in the lobby.

Default Stop over in Brisbane

Hi all

Flying into Brisbane from UK via Singapore late September for a short
stopover enroute Heron island. Arrive Brisbane 0640 for a transfer to the
Mercure Hotel. Departing next day at 0245.

Have been booked into this hotel once before and they wouldn't let us access
our room until 1400 unless we pay for an extra day.

Going to be the same again I reckon. Very reluctant to pay extra for a room
we will be in for such a short time. ((
Spoken to our Tour arranger who tell me there is nothing they can do about
it as most hotels in Oz follow this routine.

Anyone give me a good routine for spending a few hours touring in Brisbane
for two very tired, slightly aging Brits?? One a non diver!

Yours hopefully

Eddie
