| Ok folks, I'm new to this newsgroup so bear with me. My wife and I are experienced divers. Dive every week (primarily drift dives), full cave and trimix certified. We're doing a cruise in early November that includes one day stops in Cozumel and Belize City. I've already made plans for when we get to Grand Cayman as I have a friend that runs a dive operation there. What we're looking for is the name of dive operations that we can contact ahead of time to set up a two tank dive at each location. We'll have our own gear other than tanks and weights. Nitrox preferred if available. The question for each location is: Dive operations that will allow us interesting diving once they're comfortable with our diving experience. Don't want any sort of cattle or tourist boat. Appreciate any suggestions 1. Belize City 2. Cozumel Thank in advance Tom Hanaway tomhanaway@spininternet.com |

They are cruiser friendly, but essentially a tech/DIR operation (though they are not aggressive about it). For the type of diver you are and what you want to do, that would be my first stop. As for Belize, due to the logistics, both of tendering in and the distance to the good diving, your options are fairly limited. We've had some good discussions over on the Scuba board in Cruise Critic (www.cruisecritic.com). I believe there's a pretty good concensus there about who to try. Bruce there has recently been out with Yellow Rose, so he can give you more information as well. Amber |

| Amber, Thanks so much for your lead (pun intended), I have the impression that your tag line means you get cruises in exchange for bridge instruction? If not, ignore the reference :^) Looks like we'll set up something for Cozumel and take a complete pass on diving Belize. I'm not that excited about setting up extensive travel arrangements for two open water dives. Caves back in Akumal's jungles-yes, cruise ship-nope. The cruise ship scuba forum was really helpful. Thanks again, Tom Hanaway > Tom Hanaway inquired: > > >What we're > >looking for is the name of dive operations that we can contact ahead of time > >to set up a two tank dive at each location. | Tom surmised: >Thanks so much for your lead (pun intended), I have the impression that your >tag line means you get cruises in exchange for bridge instruction? If not, >ignore the reference :^) LOL Tom - actually it has nothing to do with bridge play. BiddingFun.com is a web site designed to help cruisers with Priceline/Hotwire, while BiddingHELP.com is my business providing Priceline/Hotwire assistance and services. :) Back to diving... Hopefully some entrepreneur will set up a business to reliably get cruise divers from the ship to Ambergris and back again in allotted time. Until then, the boat rides are long to get to the better reefs. Too bad. Amber |

There is already so much pressure from the increase in traffick to Shark/ray Alley, that the nurse sharks have almost disappeared from that site. Day trippers . . . |
