We aren't going off the deep end and we aren't going on a Peter Hughes
liveaboard to Belize during hurricane season, either.

I thought he canceled the subsequent charters until he brought in the boat
from Palau. Those who were canceled had few options available.

Which means the fools who book with the spammer not only risk certain death
if they get hit by a hurricane, but risk losing their investment if a trip
prior to theirs capsizes and kills everyone aboard.

They're going to pay me $2600? I think I could do that. That should
cover repatriation of remains.

But they did get trip credits to take another Peter Hughes trip in the
future. What they lost was their airfare, maybe.

You've overlooked the impact on vacation time. For most people,
cancellation of vacation plans often means loss of the chance to take a
meaningful vacation. For some people, that's more important than the
financial considerations.

But Belize is much more affordable in terms of money and time than other
Peter Hughes destinations which may take several days of travel to/from the
boat and much more money for air fare and the extra cost of the charter (I
believe Belize is Peter's cheapest boat trip). A refund would have allowed
people to chose a comparable replacement trip elsewhere in the Caribbean.

Many companies now have use-or-lose vacation policies. And
rescheduling a vacation like that usually involves at least six months
of planning.
