Default Snorkeling Belize Reef

Hi

A short time ago I asked about protecting a bald head while snorkeling.
I wound up using a head covered with SPF 45. Seemed to work OK.

We went snorkeling in Hol Chan Marine Reserve by the reef in Beleze. I
loved it. Some of the folks who have snorkeled other places also
thought it was excellent.

I'm ready to go back and do it again. Actually we already went twice.

Al

Well, I'm sorry you didn't try the banana. We were looking forward to
hearing how that worked out. ;^)

I'm glad to hear you had such a great time at Hol Chan. How was the rest of
your trip?

The entire trip was great. We stayed on Caye Caulker for 4 nights. We
loved it and hated to leave. We made new friends and kept seeing them
over and over. It kind of reminded me of summer camp, with rum.

We went to the Crystal Paradise Resort near Placencia for another 4
nights. We saw Caracol and Tikal from there. Met more nice people.

All in all a very good trip. We were gone 8 nights and it felt like 3
weeks. That's pretty good bang for the buck for a vacation.

Which lodging?

LOL. West End was a bit like that. There's only one street and so you saw
the same people every day . . .even the ones you preferred to avoid.

How did you like Placencia. I've often thought of heading that way. The
biggest reason I haven't made it yet, is because the reef is about 45
minutes offshore whereas at Ambergris Caye, it's only 5 minutes.

I generally try to go to Belize for 3 weeks. Imagine how that feels. :^)

Lodging
We rented a cottage from Amanda Badger on www.cayecaulkerrentals.com.
Small but nice. Below the airport. seabreazes all night.

People
Hard to believe but there were only 2 people I preferred to not meet.
They were the only negative people we met. My wife gave me a hard time
but I blew them off the second day.

Crystal Paradise and Placencia
Oops. Crystal Paradise is near San Ignacio. Placencia is a separate
thing but we were there last year. I really liked it but the
snorkeling is not nearly as good. We stayed at Kittys Place and could
not have been treated better. Wonderful restaurant there too. If can
post a link to pictures from last year if people are interested.

3 Weeks.
If I was there for 3 weeks, I probably wouldn't leave. Not much to do
on Caye Caulker but the people (locals and tourists) are so nice that
they become something to do. I'll post a bunch of pictures in the near
future.

Sometimes ya just gotta do it. No sense in having a vacation spoiled that
way.

Yes, I'd like to see them. Post a URL.

Yes, it is hard to go home again. Sometimes I get a bit homesick into the
third week. Usually, any homesickness comes from having had too much fun
and being tired. If I spend a quiet evening or two, it passes.

Not from Belize. I'll post the Caye Caulker ones later but they need
to be cleaned up a bit.

OK, I'll look forward to seeing them. Oh, and I'm assuming by "not from
Belize", you mean not from the mainland?
