Default Diving in Belize

Does anybody have an opinion about diving in Belize in October/beginning
November? Good or bad weather?

Jon

I was there in Oct last year. Beautiful.
Belize has been hit by just 2 hurricanes in the last 25 years.

I can count three in the past 5 years.

Hurricane Mitch
Hurricane Keith
Hurricane Iris

Thanks Forest. I did find it a bit odd though that it makes no mention of
Hurricane Mitch. Mitch being the hurricane that actually caused some damage
to the local reef at Ambergris Caye.

Chilly,

I'm haven't taken the time to see what kind of criteria hurricanecity uses
to associate a storm to a particular country. Obviously storms don't respect
country border lines.

On Ambergris Caye the waves came in 200' from the shoreline. Main Street
flooded 2.5' deep. They evacuated 6,000 people. Not a good way to spend a
dive trip, so it certainly counts in my book regardless of where the
hurricane "landed".

Hurricane Mitch did not land in Belize. It landed in Honduras.
You are right about Keith and Iris. That makes 2.

My sentiments exactly, particularly since Mitch chewed up the reef, whereas
Keith and Iris did not.
