Default Great Barrier Reff Dive Sugggestions

I anticipate diving the Great Barrier Reef Oct. 2, 3 and 4th of this year.

I have a suggestion from a friend that I use a live aboard, but it seems
from checking dive operator web sites, these trips (1 or 2 nights out, seem
to go to the same locations as the day trips.

Am I mistaken and are there any suggestions regarding my short dive
vacation.

Also, what would one expect to find in visibility, weather and sees that
time of the year.

Thanks!

The GBR is stunningly beautiful when viewed from the air, this is the view
that most people see that makes them want to dive the reef, a marketing
mans dream............

Underneath the waves you could be almost anywhere......

But, if you want to dive the sites that are visted daily by the cattle
boats, get a big boat........if you want a more personalised trip get a
small boat or Rib that goes out daily, probably wont do the GBR from a rib
but i bet you would get some great dives in.

I had a few good dives around Byron Bay from a Rib, you could try South
West Rocks......good dives there also, but the big boats go out of Airlie
Beach.....not to sure of Townsville.....i could'nt even find a decent dive
from there......and Cairns has boats that do GBR and Coral Sea.......Coral
Sea has some great diving....Holmes & Bouganville reefs were awesome,
great for BIG fish......
