It just looks like the eye most likely won't hit, but they're going to
be on the eastern edge of the storm.. still going to get a ton of rain
no doubt.

Looks like Panama City is going to get hammered.

Got a call yesterday from a friend there at NEDU, and they are buttoning up.

Hopefully, crossing the Greater Antilles will tear it apart and/or redirect it.
It often does. Unfortunately, it looks like Western Cuba is going
to get smashed again. They took on Charley, and couldn't possibly be
in shape for another hit.

It also looks like Grand Cayman is going to take it right in the face.

It's always a good news/bad news thing for us.
Hoping for the best often means someone else gets the worst.

They keep forecasting a turn and it isn't happening as expected... The
forecasted track keeps getting closer and closer to me... I still haven't
figured out a good way to mount plywood over my windows since I have brick
walls... I wore out a masonry bit drilling two holes to mount a garden hose
hanger directly on the bricks a couple of weeks ago...

That might be an option... I could use the power driver nails to permanently
anchor some frames or attachment corners that would not be too noticeable if
I left them up there and then attach whatever shutter material via some
rails and the window shutters whenever a storm was headed this way...
Hmmm... What about 1/8" aluminum diamondplate for window covers instead of
plywood?

I was on Yale lake (South slope) looking at the summit
when it, and the whole North side went away. That was fun.
I gotta admit, standing there packing up my Hobie 18,
looking at clear air lightning cracking around a 60,000 foot
pillar of ash, I wondered more than once if we were going to
make it off the hill.

safe diving,

This has all been engineered. From what you're saying, it doesn't sound like
you're concerned about the immediate future. Why don't you just hire a professional
company and get permitted/certified product installed. It gets pretty decent
discounts on FWUA insurance.

Just out of curiosity...when you tried drilling, did you have a hammer-drill
or not?

safe diving,

bullshark
