Default Eden Rocks Shore Dives in Grand Cayman

During a western Caribbean cruise, I had the chance to do some quick scuba
diving while at port in Grand Cayman. Since time was limited, I did some
prior research and decided to try the shore dives at Eden Rocks. It was
actually not bad and the price was right. I wrote an article about it and
it's at;

Dan,

We used one of their lockers and their keys. I had the key in the
watertight compartment I store my ID in while diving. It was no problem at
all as the lockers were big enough for both myself and my partner.

Eden Rock is one of my favorite night dives. Last time I was on Grand
Cayman, I did it every night I was not out on the Nicholson. We stay
at Sunset House.

Love Devil's Grotto, thanks for the memory! I need to get back to
Cayman, 3 days just wasn't enough.

It would certainly be a much less expensive night dive since there's no dive
boat required.

Neither was 10.

Jayna likes Brac better than Grand Cayman. Personally, I much prefer Grand
Cayman. There's more to do when you're not diving and more opportunities to
dive a lot, including shore diving. Each time we've been there, we've
arranged a visit to the Sandbar/Stingray City and done at least one night
dive to meet the tourist submarine at the Nicholson, directly off Sunset
House. It's impossible to describe how cool it is to be on the wreck when
the tourist sub arrives. The closest you can get without doing it, is some
of the scenes from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Jayna's usually content to do her two boat dives a day and her one or two
night dives that are included in the package. As I recall, Sunset House
will let each guest have a couple of tanks overnight. It's not unusual for
me to use mine and Jayna's for diving Devil's Grotto, the caves crevasas and
swim throughs at Eden Rock and/or Sunset Reef and the Nicholson. I've not
yet done a swim out to the wall at night. Maybe next time. Often as not,
my problem is finding a dive buddy that's willing to dive as much as I like.
It sounds crazy in this forum, but they're not exactly growing on trees.

Too bad I don't live closer then. Um, not that I'm growing on a tree, just
that I'll dive as much as I can.

Now meeting up with a sub would be a real cool dive! Thanks for bringing it
up. I would like to do that one next time I'm down there. I wonder if it's
possible to do something similar at the other Atlantis submarine locations.

I would assume so. You just have to figure out when and where they're going
to be. In Grand Cayman, that was easy. We knew they did the Nicholson on
nights that the cruise ships were in port and the hotel knew which nights
that was. We watched for the tourist transport boat to approach, knowing
that as soon as they loaded their passengers, they'd be on the way. When
the boat approached, we swam out.

The Atlantis Sub operation in Coz makes twice daily visits on the north
end of Chankanaab Reef area. A number of times the sub driver has
paused long enough for us to approach for a moment so long as we stay
clear of the props. He'll wave us off if the schedule gets cramped.
This is a much smaller sub than other locations.
