Default Diving in Easter Island (Chile)

http://www.southpacific.org/text/finding_easter.html

Billed as the most "remote" island on earth (Easter Island is 1900 km
from the nearest island Pitcairn (UK)).

We were at sea for FOUR days (from Moorea, Tahiti) to make a 6-hr
stop at Pitcairn (population 50) at which time 80 percent of the
island's population went on the Pacific Princess with their handicrafts
to sell to the cruise passengers.

We left Pitcairn a day ago, and two more days a sea we'll be at
Easter Island!!

I'll be the ONLY passenger on this cruise ship who'll be DIVING during
our 6-hr stop at Easter Island, provided I can find a suitable wetsuit
at the dive shop there. Not having ever dived with more than a 1/4-inch
wetsuit (which I used for my ice-diving certification ), I hope the
dive shop will have one of the size and thickness that'll fit this WWW.

My "buddy" will be the director of the tour activities on the Pacific
Princess, with whom I've made several dives (as SOBs) in different
islands in the French Polynesia.

I look forward to this once-a-lifetime opportunities. After the
Easter Island stop, it'll be another THREE days at sea before we arrive
Peru. Thus, it is accurate to say that I'll have spend 10 days a sea
just to make ONE dive in Easter Island!

I hope after September 7, I'll be able to say, "Been there. Done that."

In my preceding follow-up post, I made several typo errors in the URLs:

I did my dive with the ORCA Diving Center:

That was correct.

TYPO galore! http://www.seemorca.cl/ingles/equipos_y_tarifas.htm

As for the reference to the giant coral head:

target was underwater Moai some 40 meters below, unfortunately I got there
just to find out is in ruin. Here is some pics.

Great pics! Including the above-water moais. Some of those look like
the postcards I picked up, but don't have any photos myself.

I only heard about the underwater moai. 40 meters below!? That would
have been almost the depth of my first dives in Cozumel.

I don't know why the Princess Cruise spends 10 days at sea for just that
one 6 HOUR stop on the island. Most of the other passengers wonder the
same. I certainly would have liked to spend more time there, above AND
below water.

It's only a 6 hour flight from Chile, I was told. Perhaps I'll have to
give it a return visit via that route.

Thanks for the link and pics.

Two more days (including today) at sea before Callao Peru!

Strongly recommended, I was there 4 days and still want to go back.
Thanks
Mark
