Costa Rica---North Pacific Coast

Amigos:

We will be in northern Costa Rica-Pacific side for a few days near the end of
June.

Has anyone been to either the Bat Islands or Catalina Island?

Any info you can share about diving these areas in particular, or northern
Costa Rica in general, would be appreciated.

I've dived at Isla Catalina last year for several dives, and it was a lovely
place to dive. I was there at the end of April and the water temp was about
27 degrees on average, but lowest of 26. From what I can tell most people
diving this place do so from Playa del Coco, but I was staying at Playa
Flamingo, and dived with Costa Rica Diving. In all honesty I would avoid
them if I were you. The service was satisfactory, but certainly not great,
and I was particularly unimpressed by the attitude of the owner. Sadly they
get a lot of business due to having internet access at their dive centre as
well.
