I was in Dubrovnik end Sept 2003. If you're looking for wildlife you'll be
disappointed but as far as wrecks are concerned it'll be more your style.
There's an interesting wreck that starts at 25m and goes to 50m (cargo ship
torpedoed with a cargo of tractors on the sea bed), if you're qualified
enough (obviously you'll have very little time on it) but if you have an
underwater camera it'll make for some interesting pics. The underwater
scenery is nice. The guys at the dive club all have decent English also. Try

Right in front of Cavtat (Ragusavecchia, if you like history) there are
two interesting roman wrecks, more or less 27 m. deep.

Near Dubrovnik (Ragusa) you can find the wreck of the ship Taranto.

I don't know the sea temperature, but I guess you can find more or less
14° C in may. Visibility is always very good.
