And yet, this lower level seems to be right where you and I meet....

Your answer is at the bottom of the pro-gun diatribe.Sorry!

Luap, I'd say the deadliest weapon in the world would be a Phd in nuclear
physics or biochemistry. One person, with one of these, could kill a hundred
million, or perhaps the entire human race.
So when do these become illegal?

The deadliest small arm in the world is, was, and will always be the pump
shotgun, available at Wal-mart for around $125.00, no waiting period to my
knowledge.

This weapon, readily available and already predominant in many American
households, can issue 60 projectiles with a magnum powder charge in under 4
seconds, lethal to 150 yards. No other weapon readily availible can touch
that.

Not a handgun, although it can be cut down to near that size.

Not an assault rifle.

Not a machine gun.

But people entrenched in anti-gun media-hype hysterics just don't
understand.
Which is why, from a position of their near total ignorance, and fear, I
don't
want them making any decisions that affect my right to life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness. Get it?

One Congressman, when asked what an assualt weapon was, said: "A weapon
that
can be fired from the hip". What a maroon.

Then they owtlawed bayonet lugs (the metal clip a bayonet attaches to on
the
rifle). Did we have a rash of bayonet attacks? Wouldn't this be a stabbing?
But
that's the logic I see from your side of the argument.

I see the problem, better than you do. Until we address social ills and
revitalize our justice system, this violence problem will not go away. It
has
to do with our schools, our communities, Drugs, Hollywood, how much TV and
how
little parental attention the kids get. Greed. Opportunity. And a bunch of
other stuff that has nothing to do with my firearms.

I'd like to see drug related gunviolence separated from other gun
statistics,
for the same reason that drunk driving accidents are separated from other
car
accidents. If you've ever paid money for drugs at any level, you have
contributed to drug/gun violence. Chew on that.

You (Marcel,Fish,Greg) see me as a contributor to this problem. you have
no
basis for that opinion.

I merely wish to defend myself from a problem not of my making. I have an
exellent basis for that opinion.

You should study the "Gun Control Act of 1968". This is the Federal law
that
says who can own what. It's a decent law, although it does lump switch
blades
with rocket launchers.

With a permit, you can own a .50 caliber belt fed weapon (Big Assed
Machine
Gun, in case you didn't know). I have no problem with that if you are
obeying
the law.

People collect machine guns for the same reasons that they collect
butterflies and model trains and WW1bi-planes. As to your snide reference to
my
instinctive sinking, the point I was making was that in this country, we
have
the freedom to do as we choose. As long as I don't break the law, It's none
of
your business if I collect machine guns. Whether you think I need one or not
has no bearing.

And finally, to answer your question, in this Glorious Country, an
individual
with the apropriate license or permit can own a fighter plane, aircraft
carrier, submarine or a tank. This is not a joke, and is AOK by me.

Me personally, Luap, I already own just about every firearm I wish to. I
think automatic weapons are for people who need to improve their
marksmanship
skills (although they are really fun to shoot).

Sorry this was long, but I'm home with the Flu (got it from Mike Blitch,
one
of those internet viruses you hear about).

By the way, of which firearm free democracy are you a denizen?
