Lots of volts, nearly no amps. Basically, it's not enough power to do any major harm, but it'll certainly give you a quick buzz (much like testing a 9 volt battery with your tongue). The probes are normally shot out of the contraption and stick into the skin and/or clothing. It's not uncommon for the probes to arc across the heart and perps who get shot with them are given a much longer dosage than the reporters. I got to spot them in case they fell over when they got zapped. The officers didn't get it so lucky. They had people holding them up because they were going to fall over during the process. |
