Default Diving in Cyprus

Hi to all you guys in the group. I have just returned from a holiday in
Cyprus. I dived using a centre called Scandi Dive at Protaras. If you want a
good dive centre DON'T USE THIS ONE. the service was bad, the equipment was
crap. and worst of all they are the most expensive. Shop around their are a
few good centres in Protaras. If this is your first visit you must dive the
Zenobia, safe diving and have fun.

Regards

Divebuddy

I've just got back from there myself. We were on the same boat as
Scandidive and I saw one of their guides doing what I can only describe as
tap-dancing on the upturned hull of the Zenobia!

I went with Herbie's Diving Paradise in Protaras and I'd recommend them. No
nonsense - they treat you like adults, take account of your experience and
qualifications and don't place arbitrary limits on dive times.

R.

A friend of mine did his DM with Herbies.

He thoroughly enjoyed it for the month he was there and
went back on holiday with them a couple of weeks ago.

Just back from Cyprus myself. I dived with Abyss Diving Center in Chlorakas
(actually I was on my way to Dive Point, when I 'stumbled' over these
guys). They're a relaxed bunch and they let you do your thing when you're
qualified (and see that you have experience) and they don't limit your dive
time either. Did nevertheless only 2 dives with them because, as others
here had warned me about, there's not much to see. Sure, the scenery at
'Amphitheatres' was nice but almost with out marine life...and the only
difference during the night dive was that it was dark... (my Green Force
FII was a bit of an overkill).

Didn't go to the Zenobia at the end, because I really don't think it's
worth 75 CYP (or 65 CYP for a 2-tank dive), however nice the wreck may be:
a 5-day dive package in Egypt will only cost 5 CYP more...
You can get better prices in Larnaca, but then you first have to get there
from Paphos.

It's still a bloody good dive. It's perhaps over-priced, but then...
isn't EVERYTHING we pay for as divers? Who other than scuba divers
would pay a few quid to breathe air for a little while? :)

If you're in Limassol, Buddy Divers took me off to Zenobia and did a
Discover Scuba Diving for my g/f. Both of us loved it, and have
absolutely no complaints about the kit, staff or behaviour.

Well, there's over-priced and too over-priced. The Zenobia trip fell in the
latter category for me.
I didn't even pay that much for my dives on the GBR in Australia.

You can see fish *anywhere* - huge ferries are a bit rarer

I'm still kicking myself for not diving the Tricolor before they cut
her up... :(

But surely it will be even more fun now that some of the containers have
been cut open?

Not if they lift them out of the water, it won't...
