Default Diving in Cyprus

Ok, not an advert, well, it is, but as I have no commercial links,
what the hell!.

Just back from Cyprus, Diving with "Dive-in", based out of the Four
Seasons in Limmassol. What a fantastic bunch of guys.

Also did 2 dives on the Zenobia with them, and the guys from Dive-in
Larnaca. Professional, knowledgeable, and again, very helpful.

As someone with BSAC Qualifications, yes there was the usual banter,
but thats all it was. We ended up diving 2:1 with an guide. well
planned out/ informative etc.

I see in this months BSAC Magasine they have just opened a massive
resort for Diver training. Im hoping to drop by when im next in Cyprus
for a tour. Also also to have a chat with them in Excell in London in
March.

ok Jay,
sounds like a good set-up.
but what was the diving like?
what's Cyprus like in Feb?
guess you're lucky that BSAC is accepted abroad.

The Dive was awsome. Vis about 100+ .. even at 35 meters things were
so clear. Very sureal also floating on the surface seeing the boat
below. We didnt venture inside too far, but you can go in and out of
the lorry cabs that are still on there, as well as the resteraunt /
bridge of the ship. Standing on the stern, touching the prop looking
forward was also a sight

I dived with these guys a couple of years ago - they were excellent. Very
friendly and looked after us well.

I have to say there isn't a lot to see from Larnaca dive wise, expect the
Zenobia.

It's worth a look in and around the engine room and I think the middle
car deck[1] where there's a fork lift at one end. I like the drop
around the back doors, around by the lorries with all the morphine and
then fin along the bottom towards the bow. Looking up from that
perspective gives a good impression of just how large the Zen is.

[1] Accessed by a small hatch on the side and follow some stairs IIRC.

What was the temperature down at 20m? Dry-suit, semi-dry? Have a friend down
there I would like to visit, and wanted to do some diving there as well, am
just a little unsure what suit to take.

Regards

Rudolf

Water temp in Cyprus at the moment is around 16. I've dived it in a
semi, but my other half dives in a dry suit. Air temp is around 20 out
of the wind - it is a bit windy at the moment!!

Zen is a good dive, lots to see. Its a big wreck and needs lots of
dives on it to really appreciate it....
