Default Abysmal Diving?

Hello all.
A friend of mine that I recently got involved in diving just bought a used
regulator.
It's an Abyss Adventure 1st and 2nd stage. (not mares abyss)
I know regs should be bought new and all that, but ...
Question is, I never heard of Abysmal Diving and can't find a whole lot on
the web about their products.
It appears to be a nice setup though.

Where they known to be a decent regulator? or no.

Allow me.

Abysmal Diving was a company formed by Chris Parrett and Joel Silverstein.

Like everything Silverstein touches, the business went tits up and left a
lot of people holding the bag.

Chris made software called Abyss, Joel was a NAUI instructor until his
credentials were yanked for ethics violations;

http://www.naui.com/quality_assurance.php#revoked

The regs are re-badged Poseidon 1st stages and Kirby Morgan second stages,
if memory serves; Silverstein makes nothing of his own, only knocked off,
copied and stole from people who could actually do things other than sales
pitches.

Take a picture and send it to me and I'll see what I can do for you.

No sweat.

I always like to put a boot in on Silverstein when I can.

It is the least I can do.

I don't think Kirby Morgan is OEM, but I'm not sure who they use these days.

I don't know where you get the idea that regulators should be bought new. A
properly maintained used regulator is every bit as good and maybe even
better than a new in the box one.

That you've never heard of them speaks volumes.

While it's not true that you should only buy regulators new, it is true that
you should know something about the regulator you're buying before you buy
it.
