Default 2007 Firediving season

It is that time of year, Firediving season is almost upon is. Local
chapters are starting to recruit for this years season and if the recent
news reports are any indication, it should be an exciting season.
Contact your local Firediving chapter for more information.

Love it, haven't heard about this since the Royal National Park fires (
Southern outskirts Sydney, Aus ) quite a few years ago when it was claimed
they found a few divers up trees in full gear.

I'll take this along to RFS training on Wed night one of our blokes in HQ
is an Air operations Manager and will love this. Incidentally I think he is
on standby to go to the LA fires in the next couple of days ( paid officer
he can afford to do these things unlike us volunteers ).

In Aus it would be harder to be a member of this club as our fixed wing
aircraft are smaller Air tractors AT 502 or 802 and are filled rather than
scoop. Our light choppers give a possibility as they can carry up to 1500
litres in buckets so a few could fit in

The heavy choppers we use can lift up to 1500 litres in a bucket but mostly
we use the Air/Skycranes CH54 which while having a 9000 l capacity suck up
via a hose system and I am not sure a diver could fit in.

If you are fair dinkum about the T shirts i might get our bloke to order a
few while he is over there.
