| I am considering a small one (12 feet) as a tender for my larger boat. Are they good to dive from? |

If it has a spot to bolt on a good dive ladder, or has a transom door, which I doubt as it's likely an outboard, it's probably good. Get in it, see if it's easy to get in and out of...or can be equipped as such. -- ~Rick www.BrethrenoftheCoast.net |

| I really like RIBs as diving platforms. It's normally much easier to get in and out of a Zodiac than out of a hard hull boat. I have seen great deals at craigslist. Matthias |

Won't tip when a single diver rolls off the side. 12 ft really small, this is for lake/river use? The Carolina Skiff is very sturdy as well and half the price. But, very flat and probably not good for tender work if you are in a blue water situatuion. |

The question rather should be if it is big enough to dive from. According to manufacturers specs 110 Tender has # Weight (dry, no engine): 424 lbs (192 kg) # Maximum Weight: 845 lbs (383 kg) So you can load maximum 421 lbs engine + fuel tank - at least 100 lbs That gives you a little more than 300 lbs of useful load - what is not enough even for two divers with full scuba gear and you have to remember that somebody has to stay on board when the two are underwater. If you want something small follow Matthias' advice and use RIB. Janusz |

I've been off a 12' Whaler, and it was plenty enough for two divers + gear. It rode dry, and the low gunwhales made reboarding using the Polaris Method a snap. |

| Well, I've seen a 13' whaler haul four divers, one tank each, clear across Carmel Bay. I wouldn't have done it, but they did. I've got a 17' whaler with about 700 NorCal dive days on it. We've had it out to the Farallones. (39 nm one way). An 11? Two divers? MAYBE. Ask at http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/Ul...i?action=intro which is where the whaler folk hang out.
