If its not giving you any trouble topside, you should have no trouble
with it while diving.

Default Teeth and Diving

I'm about to check out a scuba shop in a near city. If I like what they
say then I'm signing up for scuba lessons.

A question: A few weeks ago one of my wisdom teeth kind of exploded
with a big cavity in it. The dentist said since its a wisdom tooth it
should come out, not worth fixing and all that. Right now it's not giving
me any problems at all. I can drink cold liquids and eat without the nerve
in that tooth. Unfortunately, the best surgeon in the city has a three month
waiting list.

I'm wondering, if I take scuba diving lessons, will the pressure being
at 20-50 feet depth cause problems with that tooth and nerve? I've been
thru the PADI cd rom scuba course, and know that air can seep into fillings
and such on teeth, then when you ascend the air might give you problems if
it can't get out. So what about a tooth with no filling or cap on it at
all. Just pretty much open. All I know is that right now it isn't giving
me any problems (no pain).

Thanks

Have it removed by any good dentist, don't wait for the "best surgeon".
Removing teeth is one of the simplest things dentists do.

Years ago, I had a defective tooth with trapped decay and had a bad
experience with reverse squeeze. Played hell accenting.

Like you I had a tooth with hidden decay. Had a reverse squeeze. The pain
was unbelievable. Best to find a dentist who dives.
