| When Dan emailed me to say that they would be in town today for some cultural enlightenment and invited us to join them for dinner, it just seemed right to invite them to our place for a barbecue instead. Dan accepted the invitation with alacrity, but insisted that since Patty was such a wine snob they would bring the vino. Free wine always works for me so I said "Bring it on." Since they would be rushing to get to the theatre when they got to town he suggested that he should drop the wine off at my office pre-show and I could take it home to chill. I dutifully went to the office in response to a message that the wine had been left on my desk. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, not a nice normal 750 ml bottle of wine. It's a friggin' pail with 18 litres in it. Now that's a Texas sized bottle of wine. Kind of ironic that I made a point of having extra bottles of nice white chilled in case Dan's one wasn't quite enuf for four thirsty Canucks. Hopefully he isn't expecting similar sized portions of chicken and salad. JF |
