Default Why All Veterans must learn to SCUBA or find another list

Hi Folks:

I'm a Viet-Nam veteran. I avoided the draft by joining. I volunteered
for Viet-Nam, turning down an opportunity to serve in Korea.

I served three times as many months as Kerry.

Nuthin happened in my sector the whole time I was there -- you could
hear shots in the distance sometimes, but nary a shot came my way. I
still got a mess of medals for being a good soldier, tho.

Medals notwithstanding, when I landed in the US, I got spit on. It
wasn't the honor and glory that the Democratic Party seems to recall.

All that having been said, I find it mighty odd that Peace-nik Kerry --
who advocated assasinating politicians who disagreed with his anti-war
stance in the 70's -- is now running for the Presidency on his war record.

Mighty strange.

I also find it odd that the party that embraced Bill Clinton for his
overt draft-dodging makes such a 180 and now jumps on Kerry's fishy war
record.

Mighty strange.

Finally, I find it tedious that there's so much discussion of all this
on a Scuba discussion list.

Isn't there a list moderator who can filter these nut cases out and keep
it on topic?

Topic relevancy:

I got my "Expert" rating with NASDS (different than NASDP!) just after I
got home in 1972. I was very interested in going on for commercial
diving and read anything I could get my hands on.

I recall reading a trade magazine for commercial diving in those days
with a feature article about all the off-shore oil rigs iin Viet-Nam
that needed divers. Anyone know anything about this?

Kinda new to this Usenet thing, aren't you?

Try here:

They have lots of moderators and will even let you use that newfangled
HTML stuff.

So you'll post off-topic, then want a "moderator" to censor? Of course
they'd censor your post too.
Generally, we relay on 'self-moderation". If you don't think something
should be posted, don't post it.
Don't read the off-topic subjects. Though sometimes though topic drift what
appears to be an on topic post from the subject line, may not be. Typically
when a post has drifted, it'll rarely get back on topic.

Usually self-moderation works out.

Tell ya what though, if y'got something scuba related that y'want to talk
about, post it.
If folks are interested, they'll respond and a new thread'll start.

So you describe yourself as being tedious?
