Pre-maid? Interesting concept for a new product? I doubt it since every
save-a-dive kit is different. Additionally, many have a regular kit and a
kit or kits used for special circumstances or conditions. The regular kit
changes based on gear and needs. The special kit will vary depending on
availability of parts, location of travel, type of diving or other
circumstances.

Default Save-A-Dive Kits

Do most of you just make your own, rather than purchase a pre-made one
a dive supply store?

Price the components in a pre-packaged kit. If the kit is less expensive
than the individual components (that you need), then buy the kit and add on
to that. This is what I keep in my kit:

Leatherman tool
Adjustable wrench
Set Allen wrenches
Divers' tool
Tank valve O-rings (skinny and fat)
Hose end o-rings, assorted
SPG spool o-rings
Small tube Crystolube
Gauge wrist strap
Fin strap(I use stainless straps but I keep a standard rubber one in case
someone else needs it.)
Mask strap
Tire filling adapter for BC quick connect
Blow gun adapter for BC quick connect (for blowing off camera)
Regulator plugs (HP and LP)
Inserts to adapt 200 bar DIN valves to Int. yoke
Inflator hose for BC or dry suit
All packed in a small Pelican box.

I also carry an extra mask, digital bottom timer, compass and slates/wet
notes and pencils.

Hope this helps.

Immensely. Thanks for taking the time to list everything out. I
imagine this is something that you've put together from experience?

Everybody I know makes their own. The ready made ones aren't bad, but they
don't recognize the unique characteristics of each person's choice of gear.
For example, Mine has batteries for my computers and for my wife's and no
fin straps at all (we don't use pocket/strap fins), the plugs that we took
out of our regulators over the years and tools that fit what I may need to
use tools on. You get the idea.

On the other hand, if you're a DIR diver, well, if you're THE DIR diver, you
might make a lot of money off standard save a dive kits since everybody who
is DIR, dives exactly the same way, every time. 8^)

I don't know about "most of you", but many start with a pre-made one
for at least two reasons: (1) You get a price break over the per-piece
price of the contents, and (2) Depending on the kit you choose, you get
a handy container to keep it all in.

But many will then add specific parts/tools that relate to thier individual
SCUBA gear.

Actaully, I have TWO "save-a-dive" kits: One is a nice plastic "egg"
that rides in my dive bag. The other is a small tool box that rides
to the dive site or boat dock in my car. It is left as an exercise to
determine which is larger/heavier and contains more stuf.

Spare bungee cord (2.5mm 1/10") probably most useful.
