I don't know which Charlie your aiming at, but this Charlie plans to be
in the Boston area with family (pre-planed trip) while Florida finds out
if the post-Andrew building codes actually work.

If they do, I should be back at my desk next Tuesday.

If they don't...

Keep in mind -- cars, homes, etc. are all THINGS.

Francis will kill some people; the most important thing
you can do is to NOT be one of them.

Good luck to all.

There's a spanking coming, that's for sure.

I fear its going to come across and into the gulf - and if it does, we're
screwed up here.

If it does, you're likely to get nothing more than a tropical storm. Here
on the SE and central portions of the east coast, we're looking at a
category 5 hit with sustained winds of 145 and gusts in excess of 185 mph.
Not exactly the same risk.

Lee

PS: The coconuts are off the trees, I've secured the big boat the best I
can. It's not insured, so if it goes, all I get is a tax deduction. The
little boats are all at the house, where homeowner's insurance will at least
partly cover any damage. I don't have shutters. Historically, that has not
been a problem. This time, who knows.

I do have a 7.5 kw generator 30 amp/240 volt and a setup to reverse load my
panel when the power goes out, as it almost always does. When buying
hurricane supplies this afternoon, I was the only person in the frozen food
section.

Damn Lee....

Guess you dont remember Erin AND OPAL hitting the gulf coast circa summer of
1996 (give or take)....

Erin was a strong 3/weak 4 and Opal was 5! until at the LAST minute it gulped
in a "cold" front from texas and fortunately dropped to a 4....

I had friends and relatives that had the eyes of BOTH storms that summer pass
over their houses! what a friggin mess

The gulf water is nice and warm....very warm late summer....the perfect
conditions for a mega hurrricane....

Claiming we on the gulf coast will only likely suffer a tropical storm is
moronic to say the least....

When those storms enter the warm gulf waters LOOK out!

Good luck Lee.

If you, or anybody else, should need an extra hand with clean up after the
storm don't hesitate to ask.
