| Gov. Jeb Bush, who has had to contend with four hurricanes this season, joked Monday that the experience had been an eye-opener as he studied weather maps for signs of tropical storms in the Atlantic. "Never in my wildest dreams would I be looking at weather patterns off the western African coast," Mr. Bush said. Would somebody please clue Jeb in. Each region of the country has it's own form of natural disaster to worry about. Ours is hurricanes and hurricanes start along the African coast. Everybody else who's been in the state knows where to look. What took Jeb so long? Lee |

I've been watching for storms coming off the coast of Africa for years, so it's not just people in your state that know. "never in his wildest dreams" eh? shaking my head |

Then maybe it's not the hurricanes that are your region's natural disaster. Maybe it's the Floridian voters. After all JB didn't just fall from the sky to become governor. Brian Edmonton, Alberta |

The way I interpreted the comment was that he would not be looking at the storm, until they looked like they were headed for Florida.. One, maybe two moderate storms a year. Now, he'll be wathcing for rain clouds off the African coast, looking for the next storm. Dennis > > Lee > > |

Some Hurricanes and TS late in the season originate from the gulf and the carribean. But this year all the hurricanes and tropical storms have messed up the gulf waters to prevent them from having the required surfacew temperatures. I hope that will work!
