TV Show - Extreme Diving

I watch a show the other day (it had actually been TIVO'd for a while)
on some sort of fitness channel (DirecTV), where they showed a diver
in Hawaii that made a dive to 345 feet to look for new species of
marine life.

The thing that was so odd is that he was wearing only a T-shirt and
shorts under his rebreather, no exposure suit. Now I realize the
water is fairly warm in Hawaii, but at 345 feet? Plus, according to
the show, he had 4-hours of decompression time.

I don't doubt the accuracy of the show. I mean it's TV, so it HAS to
be true, right? But seriously, this seems crazy to me. Even without
the temperature concerns, I would want something to protect against
whatever I might rub or scrape against.

Did anyone else see this?

Yup, sounds like Mike. He likes to go deep on the backside of
Molokini.

Actually, sounds like Richard Pyle, he is one of the pioneers of sport
diving with rebreathers, is located in HI, and definitely was looking
for new species of fish at those depths more than 15yrs ago (maybe
even 20yrs ago)

I believe that he and Severns dive "together". I believe it was Pyle
who found the Tinker's Butterfly on Molo.

That's Richard Pyle, the fish PhD from the University of Hawaii
He has been doing this for many years and is one of the respected figures in
the technical diving field particularly rebreathers.
Saw an IMAX show about him and Howard Hall a few years back.
