This sort of shit happens all the time in the real world. She was a fool for trusting the guy. She's lucky she's still alive. Are you now advocating that blind people carry concealed firearms? |

Good thing the police were there to protect her. > Are you now advocating that blind people carry concealed firearms? Sure. I doubt she could have missed at that range. |

Long ago one of my buds, Rob, lost his sight to diabetes. I learned to type and read Braille with him, and I used to take him for rides on my motorcycle. Long story made short; One night he and his wife Peggy (also blind, met at blind school) were in bed, and someone broke into their house, beat the shit out of Rob, dragged Peggy by her hair to the front door, kicked her in the head and left. I suppose the burglars/robbers/shitbags never realized that the two people they were fucking up were blind, but somehow I dont care. I went with Rob to a local gun store where he wanted to purchase a shotgun and a handgun, and the guy at the desk says "I don't think I can sell a gun to a blind man." Guess how that went. |

I've taken a class on how to shoot while blindfolded, and several classes on shooting in the total darkness. |

We left with an 870 Wingmaster with an 18" barrel, a Walther PPKS, and a Combat Commander. > I've taken a class on how to shoot while blindfolded, and several > classes on shooting in the total darkness. We used to go to Pier 49 and buy the Chinese coffee cups for $34 a hundred. Take them to the beach. Toss a coffee cup as close or as far as I wanted, and they could hit it within 1 to 3 shots of the handgun, and every shot of the 870 Wingmaster. Bad guy didnt stand a chance in their bedroom. I used to holler in the driveway and bang on the wall on the outside of the house before I came to the door. |

Agreed. I know that particular train station well. There are some "unsavory" people that hang around there. And since it is the last stop on a major train line, you would figure that there would be police around. Guess not. I do hope they nail this punk. But then, someone like Greg will gladly defend him. |

Does this, in some way, suggest to you that it's OK, that there should be no means for reacting to such a personal attack? > Are you now advocating that blind people carry concealed firearms? The term "concealed weapon" is not limited to firearms. Stun guns and similar items are addressed in the Florida law. Now, back to your question, "should blind people carry concealed weapons?" This one should have. While on the subject, the person that assaulted her was not only carrying a concealed weapon, he used it in a crime. Laws against doing so do not appear to have been effective. Seems to me, we all said they wouldn't be. So far, that's not slowed down those that would pass more of them. Lee |
