Nah. It's a curse, a byproduct of my compulsive reading. I do
occasionally check spellings and meanings of words that slither up
from the depths though.

Well, I've never heard it used as a noun to describe a person but I
suppose depending on the vocabulary of the reader or listener there
are them what might call me that.

I'm not entirely sure that there is a noun version of the word, but it

Yes, there is such noun in English, but it can't be used to describe a
person. FYI it is derived from the Latin word meaning cotton.

That one I had to look up. I only studied latin for 4 years and that
wasn't one of the words that stuck in the brain cells. I knew it
wasn't a noun applied to living breathing folks, only to the way some
of us talk. 8)

Well educated people, with perfect grasp of their native tongue
intuitively know if the word fits in the context or not. The problem
is when somebody with poor educational background tries to keep
appearances of being better educated by using vocabulary which meaning
is not fully understood by him. IMHO the best example of such a guy
is Scott.
