Remember one thing; You have a learners permit. OK, two things; The enthusiasm you feel now is the best tool the dive shops have to sell you all the shit you need to make a few bucks on ebay later. |

The above advice is good: get some experience now and you'll get more out of the AOW later. m |

| Why jump in and get your AOW? I read that most divers never dive in water deeper than 60 feet. Your PADI OW should cover that. Someone told me that PADI really stands for "Put Another Dollar In." Get some dives in before you decide to put another dollar in. If I were you I'd buy my own equipment or upgrade the gear I have and start diving local shore dives. Go places, meet people, do things... Nitrox might be a cert worth pursuing. I hear you can double your bottom time. Now that is worth putting another dollar in. I don't know if PADI teaches it though. Dive safe! Mike Jarrells |

I had a positive experience and I recommend PADI if you are considering getting your SCUBA certification. I can't speak for all PADI schools, but the one I went to was taught by an honest and experienced diver. He was so honest that he talked his students into not buying pricey & useless equipment. | Chilly, Why do you think you're an idiot? I don't think you are. You seem to be a very articulate and intelligent person. I don't think the readers of this newsgroup are idiots. I come here to learn from them and share what little knowledge and experience I have. I look forward to learning from the knowledge and experience you and others share in this forum. I hope we can all learn from each other. Dive safe! Mike Jarrells |
