I just so happen to be seeing CSN at the L.A. County Fair tonight. I wonder
if they'll play the song there. And I'm a little nervous after today's ABC
tape of the terrorist threatening L.A., since this will probably be the
largest gathering of people in the L.A. area on this fateful day and fair
security is a joke. I'd change my mind and stay home, but I already shelled
out $70 for tickets. So if I don't make it back, it was nice knowing y'all.

Why would they attack a base of support?

Precisely.

Except for the fact they prefer to target an unarmed populace full of
decadent infidels.

Precisely.

It does them no good to attack the right-wingers. They could bomb a monster
truck rally or a NASCAR event and all they do is piss off the same people
that are already the most pissed off. But when they attack us peace-loving
L.A. types, they really create terror because we're the ones who think it
shouldn't happen to us because we feel for the poor terrorists who were
brought up in the slums of Ridyadh under the Bush/Bin Laden regime.

But the main reason is that they want us to attack random middle-eastern
countries because it makes martyrs out of many and drums up support for
their cause. If we hadn't invaded Iraq, the terrorist movement would have
died out completely. Instead, we're providing not only an excellent
training ground for them, but also an outstanding recruitment base. Heck,
if 70% of Americans think we shouldn't have invaded Iraq, what percentage of
Arab Muslims feel that we made a huge blunder? Bin Laden and his crew want
us to attack random middle-eastern countries because that's they only way
they can meet their recruiment quotas. Obviously, if they want America to
attack them after the unpopularity of the Iraq invasion, they need to hammer
at us liberals.

Fortunately they didn't. David Crosby only made it for 1 in 4 songs, pacing
himself and his new liver. Stephen Stills got a bit chunky, but he's still
playing and singing his heart out. Graham Nash was in perfect form as
usual, a bit more wrinkled than the last time I saw him, but still moving
real strong. I thought they got a slow start, but were harmonizing
excellently by the end of the show. Stills played a For What It's Worth
with the audience singing one chorus a capella and they ended up playing
everything else I wanted to hear, from Wooden Ships to an encore of Teach
Your Children. But they didn't play Cost of Freedom. Go figure.

Anyway, I'm in Boston and New York next weekend. TonyP, I'm flying into
LaGuardia (driving to Boston) and would love to have a sip of your church's
holy water if it's not too far out of the way, otherwise I'm in Manhattan on
Sunday night and will buy you a holy beer if you wanna meet up. The weekend
after it's back at the L.A. County Fair for me, with ZZ Top on Sunday. I'll
have no fear of terrorists then since it's not kosher for fundamentalists to
attack guys with really long beards.

BTW, the L.A. County Fair is located in Pomona, on the eastern border of
L.A. County. Shunned by "sophisticated" west-siders, it's mainly populated
by people east or south of the border, hardly decadent infidels, but instead
mainly tattooed and toothless rednecks whose wives and daughters wear really
slutty clothes and have big hair (or no hair). And there's a significant
number of fair attendees with obvious Downs' syndrome. So maybe that's why
we didn't get attacked, I dunno.

Any cites for this ridiculous statement?

If there was no terrorist there because they were all in Saudia Arabia
and Afghanistan - why would invading Iraq done anything?

I knew we could agree on something.

That, however, will have to go in your file with "Only cops and
professional criminals should have guns" and "There are no terrorists in
Iraq".

That's why I hide out amongst the Republicans. I should be safe from the
terrorists as long as the Republicans don't get me first.

I stand by all three statements. Actually, there now are terrorists in Iraq
after Bush laid out the welcome mat. But there weren't when I made the
statement. One guy, Zarqawi, and Saddam had him on a tight leash.
