Maybe Japan should consider a knife ban

Wasn't England considering some sort of knife ban?

Pointy sharp kitchen knives and more recently, samurai swords.

They did more than consider it. They implemented it.

It would be more amusing if the results were not so tragic. Virtually all
means of defense have been denied to the English. Literally, their only
option in the event of home invasion, is flight. Virtually all forms of
resistance have been made illegal. The upside is that the situation can't
last long. There have already been so many problems that a grass roots
movement reversing some of the laws preventing citizens from feeling secure
in their homes is well under way.

Joe, how nice of you to mention Japan. The country with strict gun
control which has wonderful effect on crime rate.
Let's compare it with your country
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Japan

"In 1989 Japan experienced 1.3 robberies per 100,000 population,
compared with .... 233.0 for the United States; and it experienced 1.1
murder per 100,000 population, compared with ........8.7 for the
United States that same year. Japanese authorities also solve a high
percentage of robbery cases (75.9 percent, compared with ...... 26.0
percent for the United States) and homicide cases (95.9 percent,
compared with .......and 68.3 percent for the United States)."

How can you survive without concrete bunker in your house, minefields
and razor wire obstacles around it, machine gun nests etc.???

Uh, yeah, it is. But only marginally better than condemning condiments.
