| I've got a friend who is looking for some diving in a reasonably close proximity to West Texas (outside of Balmorhea) and he was asking me about this location. IIRC, there's at least one person who's been diving in Travis and, also IIRC, they've said that the vis is basically zero. I just wanted to verify that information (or get the correct information) before advising my friend. Any help out there? |

Travis is clear water compared to it... It's dark, so bring a light... It's cold at depth, so a 3mm is minimum past 60 ft or so... Dillon dives up there quite a bit, IIRC... After the dive, stop by the Salt Lick for dinner... http://www.saltlickbbq.com -- See NNTP header field "X-Real-Email-Address" to reply by email. |

There are a lot of students, though, so the water murks up pretty quickly on the weekends. I thought I had heard that they were trying to sell it and it was about to close, but the website is still active. Has anyone else heard anything about that? |
