Or had you been married before?

My mistake was that if I didn't remember their name, I just assumed
they were the spouse of whomever they were with... Not exactly a
logical assumption, but "wife" was shorter to write than "significant
other du jour"...

IIRC, that was Chris Wolf. He also wrote a pretty pathetic book.
Fortunately, it wasn't the worst book I have ever read.
