Default Top ten reasons you need gloves on tropical dives

1) you have a phobia about touching boats
2) you have a phobia about touching seawater
3) you don't want to risk damaging your manicure
4) over the years, your ass has become de-sensitized
5) you don't want anyone to see that you don't have a manicure
6) your dive shop sold them to you to reduce your air consumption
7) you have a matching ensemble and don't feel dressed without them
8) the heat from your 1000 watt HID fish fryer is too much for a bare
hand
9) you pee in your wetsuit, and sensibly, you don't want to touch it
with bare hands
10) you pee on your buddy, and sensibly, you don't want to touch them
with bare hands

Mine look pretty cool.

That might could be #7, but mainly it was my first (and, hence, last)
encounter with a dock post and fire coral.

I pee on -everything-.

You hit a dock post with fire coral too?

I would have peed on my hand, but the shop at the end of the dock had
vinegar.

Fire coral doesn't bother me, but the bristle worm that Jayna picked up in a
bunch of old fishing line and stuck in her bag sure as hell did. Foolish
me, when I went to suck on my painful fingers, the son of a bitch got me in
the lips too.

Now, I wear gloves on pretty much every dive. Call it defensive diving.

In Midland, you can take that class at Furr's Cafeteria for $25 and get
lunch thrown in to boot. Oh, wait, you said diving.
