Default An anonymous diver with balls

Unlike the chickenshit divers in this newsgroup, the unnamed
diver mentioned in the story below has balls.

When is Douggy going to Iraq?

Navy diver helps bring Taliban bombing secrets to surface

Matthew Fisher, CanWest News Service
Published: Sunday, June 18, 2006

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- Petty Officer (first class) John Smith
marvels at his good fortune.

Trained as a navy clearance diver, the Haligonian says he's
having the time of his life working 700 kilometres away from the
ocean in what he fondly calls "the sandbox."

Smith has one of the most dangerous jobs in what has become the
most volatile corner of Afghanistan.

The sailor, whose superiors would not allow his real name to be
used or for him to be photographed, is the top Canadian in a
secretive cell of combat engineers who study how and where the
Taliban place landmines and improvised explosive devices and
what they use to build these lethal weapons and trigger them.

Yep. The fact that he's Canadian drives the chickenshits nuts.

Unlike Douggy, when he wussed out on his bragging about going to
Iraq.

Try digging, with a shovel, live 81mm White Phosphorous mortar rounds,
after you watch films of what they do when they go off.

Guess that's the difference between the (imagination) of testicular
fortitude and actual experience.

My 18th year was even more interesting.

Being a Combat Engineer demo tech, however, is far from being a
"Demolitions Expert", which is what the Canadian dude probably is.

It's a significantly different science than it was 30 years ago.

Thanks anyway, but I'll settle for the movies.
