Default Help: Fish & Coral Id

Sorry if this is a FAQ.
Does anyone know of a web site which will help me to name the various
fish, eels and corals that I photographed in the Caribbean recently?
I have at least 5 different Morays and 15 different corals for a start.

Thx
TJ

There aren't any. These books are the gold standard for the caribbean:

The REEF set (Humann and Deloach) http://tinyurl.com/yjostr

There is one each for fish, corals and creatures. Most dive shops sell
them and good ones have a set on display for reference. You should be
able to find them at the library, but if you're serious about fish ID
you'll get your own set. I've never been on a caribbean liveaboard that
didn't have set available, many have more than one.

Yeah, these books are basic requirement for diving in these here
parts. Available at Amazon, too.

We've owned them since our first trip to Cozumel, over 20 years ago.
Had a "waterproof" one (didn't run when you dumped a little water on
it). Some asshole borrowed it and took it on a dive. I haven't seen
him in 15 years and he's still on my shit list.

I got my set from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.ca/Reef-Set-Paul-Humann/dp/1878348337

Make note, that while it says it is hardcover and does come in a hardcover
box, the individual books are soft. Though they are soft, they are also
coated in a water resistant substance. Great set!! You can also buy them
cirlox bound, but as it turns out, I'm happier with these, as they are
slimmer volumes.

Did ya click on my tinyurl; guess where it went? (c:

The other thnig the OP should know is that you can buy them one at a
time; you don't have to buy the set.

LOL, sorry, no. I didn't even see your tinyurl. That's what I get for
skimming.

True enough, but the set is a *much* better value. I'm glad I got the whole
thing.

> You never told us how you like your new BC.

I love it at depth! But when I first and last dove it (3 dives), I was
struggling with it a bit on my safety stops. Regardless, I'm off again in a
month and will give it the old college try. I was disappointed to find
that instead of taking weight off, I had to put more on. :^(
