| So, 6 of us went to dive at Nubble Light in York, ME yesterday afternoon after work. Were ready to get into the water at 5:45 and damn! it's dark already! I hate this fall/winter stuff! Water temp was a balmy 46 degrees with a maximum visibility of around 15 feet. Did two dives of around 55 minutes each. Our one intrepid wet suit diver didn't complain at all about the water temp or the air temp (also around 46 degrees with wind that must have made the wind chill around 30). The rest of us were comfortable in the dry suits. (Although, I DID wear my fleece ski hat.) The water was calm and we got to see a lot of sculpin, raven fish and even spent some quality time with a number of squid. They were either attracted to our lights or blinded by them but certainly weren't scared away. This was the first time I'd seen squid in New England. All-in-all, a fun time with good friends. I sure do enjoy diving up here with friends, close to home and such but it does make me start thinking about taking a trip to warm water soon. |

I used to work with someone who said that if you learned one new thing a day, then you were doing alright. The definitions for "squid" are my one new thing for today. Take care. |

Used to run hillclimbs up Mt. Agamenticus back in the '60s. Still time to get to SoFla for a little diving before the water gets too cold here. Another three weeks it'll be below 80, another six to eight weeks it'll be into the winter suit. Yeah, winter sure is hell! |
