| Have driven from Key Largo to Key West a number of times to catch a dive boat. Only stopped once on the 7 mile bridge and that was because of an accident. Didn't notice if there is a sidewalk on the bridge. For Key West posters my question is this, is there a sidewalk on the bridge, if so, do people walk it? |

Unless ahighway patrol trooper comes along, no one will bother you (the trooper will likely just give you a ride to the other side). The bridge doesn't have sidewalks but does have breakdown lanes. It is a long hot, glare-filled walk, wear plenty of sunblock and sunglasses. Here is an interesting diary of someone who hiked the keys -- fun read - http://www.liverworks.com/florida/plana.html |

Doesn't sound like I want to walk the bridge. I did read the keys diary. guys good. read the who thing. Did also read that you can walk about 2 miles of the old 7 mile bridge before you get to a big cut in the bridge. Ever try it? |

Technically, I don't think that the cops should be able to legally stop you from walking the bridge unless there is an alternate land route between the islands... Personally, I wouldn't do it since of all the places that I might want to walk, 7 miles along a bridge just seems a bit boring... After the first mile or two, you've probably experienced everything that you would experience if you continued for the next 5 or 6 miles... Now, kayaking along the various islands might be a bit more interesting though... Especially some of the ones that don't have roads going to them... |
