But it also says to call. Maybe they either opened early or could accept a few divers here and there. And, obviously, nowhere near Key Largo. Oh well. ____________________________________________ Regards, Arnold Visit my Travel Photo Website: http://www.mag3.biz/travel_photos/home_page.html Absolutely 100% SPAM free!!!! HONEST!!! |

We will be about 12 miles NW of Ocala. Dove with Silent World earlier this year. Nice folks. Andy |

However, on Tuesday the LDS owner told me it was a 99% probability of a "go". On Wednesday, he confirmed we were going to 40 Fathoms. He is teaching some classes. I am going to get trained on FFM. My dive buddy has access to some with comms. |

I could get up there later in the week if you plan to be there past the weekend. Use the e-mail in this post to reply. >Dove with Silent World earlier this year. Nice folks. We were going there a few years ago and cancelled because something happened and the viz went to "0". I think they said some heavy rains or something had caused it. If I find a "body" down there does that mean I get first claim on the gear? |

I've been there when the water was really tannic, and anywhere there was light looked really red. It is one of my favorite training places. The guys there have a rather twisted Grummanesque sense of humor. I had my absolute best narc buzz there. The last time I was there, the bodies were naked. Have a good trip. Even though it's just a hole, I'm sure you'll find the place entertaining. |

Joked around with us. At one point we were picking on each other, laughing and carrying on between dives on the floating dive decks, when he yelled down at us, "You all are having entirely to much fun". Hal seemed rather busy though assisting with the transition to the new folks, which is understandable. From what I could tell, them seemed quite friendly and helpful. Completed FFM training which was interesting, since the units we had had comm systems, plus we had a surface comm unit. Did manage to get in 1 or 2 "fun" dives before leaving 40 Fathoms. Curtis stopped by on Sunday and we visited for a short period of time. I enjoyed meeting up with him again. Monday, we headed north and stopped at Ginnie Springs. Some in our group needed to finish up some training. I was there for some "fun dives". We went into the ear a short distance, came out, and packed up for the long trip home. Andy |

Glad you had a good time there. I was there once when the water was an unexpected 65 degrees, and after my dive, I told Hal his brochure promised 72 degree water all year. without missing a beat, he told me to follow him, and he took me to a place by the bank that was in the sun where the water was less than a foot deep, and told me to put my guage in the water there. Sure enough, it was 73 degrees. > Hal seemed rather busy though assisting with the transition to the new > folks, which is understandable. One thing I really want to do before he quits is get a deep air card from him. I guess I better get in touch with him now. > Completed FFM training which was interesting, since the units we had had > comm systems, plus we had a surface comm unit. As many times as I've done the ear, I never get tired of it. The flow there gives your reel skills a little bit of a workout. The eye is also a good dive. sounds like you had a great trip. Cindy and I are looking to get a long weekend in cave country soon. We have a storage locker near the jacksonville airport full of doubles, stages and my Gavin. We also want to go to SoFL. I really need to move back to SC or farther south soon. al |
