| Thanks Steve You may very well be correct,i have only had the opportunity to dive in Dominican about 6 times and had never seen these before. However when i enquired about them at the local dive centre of the resort they called them sea snakes. Maybe that's just what they call them, i do not know. I did not notice any gills nor did i notice there tails being a fluke shape like an eel but again i could be mistaken. I do thank you for your educational response. | Hey Steve I just checked out a site that showed both pic's an a mpeg vid of sharptailed eels and the ones we saw did not look like those.? The ones we saw were about as think as my thumb about 12-18 inches long and seemed to be white or light yellow with a black or dark color bands. Now i am totally confused ?? I an wondering if they could possibly a land based snake that were just feeding out on the sea grass ??As i said previous do to the fact i had the kids is was not planning to do any diving therefore left my camera housing behind so i have no pictures to show/prove what we saw. I guess i have learned my lesson, have camera and housing must travel together from now on. Any idea from your part would be helpful Richard ----== Posted via Newsfeed.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! >100,000 Newsgroups ---= 19 East/West-Coast Specialized Servers - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

It was probably a snake eel; they rest in the sand and fit the description. You should consider yourself lucky as they're somewhat rare. |
