Bardo,

I can only agree with you that Emperor are a great bunch, boats, crew,
and guides, the lot.
As you say Customer care shows at the sharp end of problems.

Default Back from Egypt!

Ah... finally made it back from a week's diving out in the Red Sea.

Trip didn't start well - those f*ckwitts at Gatwick airport decided to load
my baggage onto the Excel flight I was taking to Hurghada and then
immediately unload it again. Quite why still hasn't been explained to me but
the nett result was me boarding a liveaboard with no bleedin' dive gear! As
it was, I ended up having to rent some gopping gear for the week...

Then, of course, there was the nice people from Regal Diving who - whilst I
was frantically running around Hurghada airport trying to find out what the
hell had happened to all my dive gear - decided to drive off and leave me
stranded despite the rep inside the airport being informed of our
predicament! A few phone calls (and about 2 hours) later, I was rescued by
Theresa from Emperor Divers who picked me up in her own car. If it weren't
for Emperor, I don't know where we would have ended up so top marks to
Emperor for redefining the meaning of 'customer care'...

After the first days excitement, though, we did manage to squeeze in 22
damned good dives including four dives on the Thistlegorm (including one
night dive!), the Rosalie Moller (awesome!), Carnatic, Ghiannis D, Ulysses,
Kingston, El Mina and the odd reef dive thrown in for good measure. Managed
to snap off quite a few pics which will be winging their way to Fuji
tomorrow and will be posted online as soon as they get back to me so stay
turned for lots of pics and a proper trip report!

A big thanks to Emperor Divers - especially Mark Da Rocha Faria (our guide
for the week), Ben and Theresa - and the crew of the Golden One for an
excellent week's diving. A big wooden spoon, however, to Excel Airways and
the Gatwick aircrews for being totally incompetent..
