| Got a cheap break to Hurghada in July, any information on the diving outfit at the Aqua Fun Hotel (good name eh?) would be great. Cheers |

| I concur - Learned to dive with them this March and a better bunch of people you couldn't imagine. You'll love Hurghada - I loved it and can't wait to get back there. Hurghada is a hole! It really is nothing more than a small town with a beach-side strip. The bus service is "intersting" though. Get yourself on a livaboard and wave goodbye to it for a week! Not neccessarily... I just found that Hurgada didn't have a lot going for it. You have a small town (which will wash away if it rains), and then a long strip of hotels (and partially built hotels) heading southwards in-front of the beach. Maybe it's improved and they've finished doing all the building since I last was there though... Last time I visited, I was shore based and diving with Divers Lodge, if I went back it would be to get onto a livaboard. I found Sharm a lot less "hassle", maybe because it was a bit more compact. I've been out 5 times - last time was to Sharm. Once I went over the week after the shooting in Luxor - it was quiet then and I did get some good deals, but it took a lot of hassle (hagggling) Once I went over the week after it had rained... Killing 5 locals and rendering the area with no power... No power means no fresh water. Our boat went out with next to no fresh water - all we had was bottled water to drink, nothing to wash with... | gordon@auntyspume.drogon.net (Gordon Henderson) wrote something... > <snip> > Gordon Well, I couldn't agree more about the landscape - the hotels are all a bit unfinished and its not exactly the most beautiful of towns but I thouht the people - both local and western - were fantastic. No one had any trouble, everyone had a great time and although I have no other Egyptian experiences to compare it to, I found it friendly, open and welcoming. Just remember, though - one Egyptian pound for a minibus and no more. Anyway, am going on a liveaboard out of Sharm on the 30th - can't wait to get down there... matt |

| Most of the dive centres are a bit of a muchness with not much to choose between any of them, you'll get a good idea if you nip out to the back of the hotel and see what the outfit look like, failing that as someone else suggested try the folks at the back of the Hilton they are first class. Hurghada is a long stretched out town 35 miles long in all where as the main stuff in sharm is Namma bay which is little more than a square along with the best McDonalds Ive ever had If its your first time, you will get a tummy upset, its guaranteed :o dont bother with Imodium go to the local chemist and get something there, much more effective. Snorkelling outside the hotels is awfull in Hurghada so its a boat trip (recomended) Sharm is much the same around Namma bay but much better futher up the coast towards Nabq bay thith some spectacular walls dropping down 20 - 40 metres just a few yards off the beach Fantastic!!!:D -- Alison Jameson - Deeper Blue Beach Snoozer See ya lata :girlie ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via DeeperBlue.net - Your Online Resource for the UnderWater World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alison Jameson's Profile: http://forums.deeperblue.net/member....fo&userid=2637 View this thread on DeeperBlue.net: http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...threadid=50316 |

I can fart with confidence! However, I didn't eat the meat and religiously only used bottled water, even for brushing my teeth in. Gordon (Just back from a non-diving trip to Costa Rica where you *can* drink the tap water with confidence!) |
