Thanks for your report. We're also looking forward another stay there
in July and are confident that it'll be as nice as usual.

I've just come back from 2 weeks in Naama Bay. There was a World
Conference on international commerce going on, on the 20th, which meant
a huge security clamp down. The Egyptian government decided that by
buying up all the holiday companies allocation in the hotels 19 - 22 May
(but not that booked with a local dive operator's package) it would
reduce the effort in policing.

We were at the Helman Marina (over 250 rooms) with 18 other people plus
some British government members. Naama bay was empty with no boats
allowed in the bay and a 12 mile exclusion zone. Boats that did operate
from the harbour had to first go south, in a corridor up to 500 yards
from the coast, to clear the Zone. This meant to dive the Straits of
Tiran during the conference added 3 hours each way. To go further south
ie Ras Mohamed you were bussed to Sharm Bay.

Plus side was we had our 'standard room' up graded to a deluxe suite for
free for 2 weeks.

Diving was great, as was the food and the hospitality of the locals
wonderful.
