Hi Baz,

Anywhere will offer you a good diving experience. It really depends on what
type of diving you are looking for.

Certainly Hurghada can offer a good experience IMHO. There are a lot of
different hotels and dive packages to pick from and you could see more of
the Egyptian culture.

If you venture further south you are likely to be more cut off from the
outside world, but you may well lie this.

Don't expect a Christmassy atmosphere though. It is not a holiday they
celebrate.

Yours,
Robyn

I'm just back from Marsa Alam (and considering going again at Christmas!)
Stayed at the Iberotel Coraya Beach, which was a 10/15 minutes walk across
the beach from Coraya dive centre. As a novice, all I can say is that
the dive centre seemed well organised and pleasant, and the boat diving was
terrific. The more experience divers seemed just as satisfied as us.

Boats go out of Port Ghalib which is 15 minutes minibus ride, and none of
the queuing I've seen at Sharm - just drive up to the boat and go. The
main drawback of the location is that you're pretty much confined to the
hotel in the evening.
